Bitten by the Blog Bug

Some of you will know that while away having the time of my life in California I kept a blog. It was my first attempt at blogging and I was blown away by the support I received. I was totally surprised by the amount of people who enjoyed reading – your comments, likes & shares left me gobsmacked. (If you missed out on my California adventures and you’re a bit bored you can check out my blog here.)

And that was meant to be it. End of blog, end of blogging. But I’ve kind of missed it. Writing down my thoughts and documenting the day’s adventures was actually quite therapeutic and not the chore I envisioned it would be. The result of the blogging is a forever memory of what will probably turn out to be our family holiday of a lifetime. Preserved forever for our children (and their children?) to dip into whenever they like. They will never forget.

But surely that means that if I can preserve our everyday family life in a blog then that will also help the children remember their childhood in years to come. I know I struggle to recall things from when I was 10. How cool would it be to now look back and read about the precious family time that I can no longer remember?

Following that train of thought only leads me down one path. I should continue to blog, to keep a bit of a diary of our family life. We all know that it’s not going to be as cool and exciting as the California blog. And I can imagine that most readers will get bored after a post or two. But, if in 20 years’ time my kids are reading it with a smile on their face, or recounting a triggered memory to their children, then I will have achieved all I set out to. Or maybe they will gain an insight into what makes Mom tick. Or maybe, hopefully, they will feel the love behind every word I write.

As you can tell, there are a lot of unknowns here. I may get bored of blogging. I may be boring. I might not post often. I might post too much. You probably won’t read my blogs. But I think I’m going to give it a go and see where it takes me. Feel free to tag along for the ride – you’re very welcome.

  1. Excellent! Missed reading your blogs, interested to see whether Davies family life is any different to the Townsend family life. Don’t forget to update on the downs as well as the ups 😝
